Now Hiring Executive Director Position

The Rapides Parish Communication District (RPCD) is currently accepting applications and resumes for the position of Executive Director.  This is an executive level position which reports to the RPCD Board of Commissioners, and will be responsible for the RPCD Enhanced 9-1-1 Emergency Communications System and Parish wide Radio System.  Typical or illustrative duties include, but are not limited to:  planning, development, implementation and administration of the 9-1-1 District.  Researches and recommends administrative and technical policies, procedures, specifications and systems to improve overall operations, maintains and improves District functions and efficiency, prepares budget, provides prompt response to the public & emergency response agencies needs for day to day public safety communications assistance, as well as those critical needs during major emergency situations such as natural disasters, man-made disasters, and other major emergencies serving as the ESF 2 representative;  ensures the development of emergency operations plans for the District, and assists  other local public safety agencies upon request.  Conducts tours of the Emergency Communications Center and promotes public education for the 9-1-1 system through public speaking engagements.  Is responsible for the management of fourteen (14) or more District personnel and serves as the primary point of contact for the District to public and local, State, & Federal agencies. Must be familiar with operation of public safety communications.  Responsible for coordinating facility & equipment maintenance & service providers. Must be familiar with current and future legislative governance and technologies as it pertains to 9-1-1 and emergency telecommunications.
